Regional Skills - Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)
The Durham District School Board (DDSB) continues to set the stage for innovation and inspiration as it proudly hosted the third-annual Regional Skills Ontario Competition this past year, at the Tribute Communities Centre. The competition showcased over 550 Grade 4 to 8 students who excelled in fields like robotics, green energy, and tech design. Representing 61 schools, these young innovators demonstrated exceptional skills and creativity, guided by over 100 dedicated educators. The event celebrated hands-on learning and the limitless potential of the next generation, with top students advancing to the Provincial Skills ON competition in Toronto this May.

Students shine at 2nd annual inclusive skills competition
For the second year in a row, students of all abilities put their practical and culinary learning to the test for the Inclusive Skills Baking Competition at Uxbridge Secondary School. The result was as delicious as you can imagine with students baking tea biscuits, cookies, and soft pretzels. With huge grins, they proudly showed off their culinary creations to judges and their excited families who were cheering them on from the gallery. After their hard work in the kitchen, every student was presented with a “Durham Skills Challenge” medal and a certificate of excellence.
