2024 Resources
The DDSB is continually creating and updating resources to support our students’ well-being and success. Here are our public resources launched in 2024.
Multi-Year Strategic Plan 2024-2028
In March the Durham District School Board launched our 2024-2028 Ignite Learning Multi-Year Strategic Plan. This strategic plan is a culmination of extensive consultations, where student, staff, family, and community input has played a crucial role. The plan is designed to create an inclusive and supportive environment for our students, ensuring their success in an ever-changing world.
Budget 2024-2025
The annual budget represents a key driver of our shared vision as outlined by the Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP). It enables us to strategically deploy resources that ignite learning, connection, and well-being, aligning with our commitment to recognize and uphold Indigenous and human rights in all that we do.

Code of Conduct
In April of this year, the provincial government updated PPM 128, better known as the provincial Code of Conduct. Including a focus on the use of cellphones and other personal mobile devices in schools, this updated PPM supports student achievement and well-being by keeping students focused on their learning through the removal of distractions and the promotion of positive mental health.
In September, families of Durham District School Board (DDSB) students received communication outlining updates to the Provincial Code of Conduct, PPM 128 and DDSB’s Code of Conduct.
Anti-Oppression Strategic Plan
The Durham District School Board's Anti-Oppression Strategy is an opportunity to shift power imbalances, disrupt oppressive structures, and create a Board where all students and staff are empowered to reach their full potential. Together, we will bring this vision to life—ensuring that every student, every day, knows that they belong, are loved, and can flourish in our care.
Compendium of Action for Black Student Success 2.0
The Durham District School Board (DDSB) has created the Compendium for Black Student Success to enhance DDSB practices to support, enhance, celebrate and be responsive to our Black communities. As a Board, we recognize the importance of representation and closing gaps for our Black students.
Compendium of Action to Support 2SLGBTQIA+ Students, Staff and Families
The Durham District School Board (DDSB) 2SLGBTQIA+ Compendium of Action reaffirms our commitment to dismantling homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and discrimination. The compendium centres students by igniting learning, connections, and well-being through an anti-oppressive approach and aligns with the guiding principles of our muti-year strategic plan (MYSP).
Mental Health and Well-Being
Action Plan
The 2024-25 One Year Mental Health and Well-Being Action Plan reflects our commitment to cultivate the conditions for healthy learning and working environments, where all our students and staff feel they are welcomed and where students in particular are engaged in school life, both in their classroom learning and the larger school environment; where they know they are valued, seen and heard, where their identities are affirmed, where they belong and are connected to adults that care and are present to their lived realities
Special Education Plan 2024-2025
The Durham District School Board is committed to fostering success and independence for each student by providing a range of pathways, programs, opportunities and services that are responsive to individual identities (including intersecting identities), strengths and needs. The Inclusive Student Services - Special Education Plan describes the DDSB’s approach to special education.
Pupil Accommodation Plan 2024-2028
The Durham District School Board’s Pupil Accommodation Plan: Trends, Issues and Future Opportunities is updated annually to reflect changes in demographics, identify enrolment trends, review school utilization, and to provide growth analysis for decision making. The Plan includes detailed information on the many factors that affect enrolment, school capacities and ultimately, the use of each building.

Student Achievement Plan
The Durham District School Board’s (DDSB) Student Achievement Plan aligns with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act, 2023, providing a framework to track and improve student achievement, engagement, and well-being. It establishes clear goals and measures for academic skills, future readiness, and well-being, guiding the development of action plans to address these priorities. Using EQAO data from 2022-2023 and Ministry data from 2021-2022, with updates provided annually, the DDSB leverages this plan to drive continuous improvement and support meaningful learning, connected communities, and well-being for all students. Additionally, the DDSB continues to work hard to advance student outcomes in mathematics. The DDSB Math Plan is in its second year and we continue to collaborate with students, educators, and the Ministry of Education to improve engagement in mathematics.

Supporting Educational Assistants: Administrators’ Guide
Supporting Educational Assistants: An Administrator’s Guide to Respectful and Inclusive Teams, outlines the District’s collective commitments and effective practices for supporting inclusive teams specific to professionals in Educational Assistant roles within student programming. Co-written by representatives from CUPE 218, school administrators, and members of the senior team, the requirements outlined in this resource help address systemic concerns from Educational Assistants and our collective commitment to ensuring inclusive working conditions in our schools for all staff.
