Staff Professional Learning

Throughout the past year, the Education Centre held several professional learning sessions linked to key Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) priorities such as teaching and learning strategies, and centring anti-oppression, Indigenous education, and human rights in our work. System leadership focused on opportunities for discussion-based learning structures, so that session facilitators can learn as much about the experiences and needs of the employee group as the group took from the session topics.

 

Examples include the almost 200 educators that participated in our EmpowerED event on August 20, and the sessions hosted by People and Culture, Human Rights, and Indigenous Education teams in partnership with Facilities Services to engage in custodial and maintenance team training on anti-oppression and our ‘big three’ policies: the Indigenous Education Policy, the Human Rights, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Racism Policy, and the Safe and Respectful Workplace Policy.
